Steven Slipp
As co-principal of Semaphor, Steven shares responsibility for creative strategy, design and production.
Prior to starting Semaphor in 1995, Steven was the president of GDA Inc., where he was senior designer and general manager for 11 years.
Steven was design editor for Parks Canada’s essential bilingual design reference in 1993, Design Guidelines for Media Accessibility, which was hailed by the Smithsonian Institute.
Canada Post has commissioned Steven to design over 20 commemorative stamps and stamp series. He acted as Atlantic Region Design Co-ordinator for Canada Post from 1994 to 2001. He has just completed a second three-year term on the national Stamp Advisory Committee.
For interpretive design, the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic has commissioned Steven to design several summer exhibitions: A Camera on the Banks: The work of Frederick William Wallace, Pirates: Myth and Reality and Halifax vs. Louisbourg: The Final Siege.
Steven has been active in wayfinding design since 1995. This has become a major practice area as he continues to build experience in signage system auditing, planning, design and implementation.
